Attention!! Attention!! This entry solely belongs to Terence Tham. This is not a post by Justina Tan. This post is made by Terence Tham. This entry do not belong to Justina Tan. Other posts other than this is hers, not mine, who is Terence Tham, cos poor me do not have a blog and do not wish to create one, therefore borrowing Justina Tan's blog for my work. This entry is for my KMS workshop, so those who are interested can continue to read on, if not u can skip this entry.1. My personal view of the effectiveness of using MEL as a tool for learning the KMS module.Firstly, MEL has provided several uses that acts as a tool for learning.
- Downloading of lecture notes from MEL
- Discussion forum
- Virtual chatroom
- Games such as GameBuilder
MEL has allowed all students to have access to KMS lecture notes everyweek w/o worrying whether the aunty over at that place has printed enough notes for everyone or whether can I find someone to help me photocopy the complete notes and spending money again.
It also enable students to interact with each other virtually through the forum and virtual chatroom. The Discussion Board under KMS has been very active with postings from students, and after a short while of not entering MEL, I was surprised to find quite a number of new posts that have been posted by fellow students being made.
We can also be informed of any latest news and deadlines through MEL.
On the overall, I think that MEL has been a great tool in the learning of KMS as it gives up-to-date information and allow interaction between students and also with lecturers. However, it all depends on how often the student logs onto MEL and how willing is he to read all the postings and updates in it. But I think only a handful of students do not log onto MEL as often and I am trying not to be one of them.
2. One learning point that I have took away?? from the e-learning activities I have participated in. With the e-learning activity, I have got to view different answers from students and how the same question generates totally different answers. This has taught me to view the question from different angles so that I will not miss any thing when answering to it.
